This week you may have seen the buzz around the popular picture sharing social network Instagram (which is owned by Facebook) adding video functionality to its app. With the addition of video, Instagram now goes toe-to-toe with Twitter’s video sharing app, Vine.
The idea of each is simple: users can record a short (Instagram videos are 15 seconds; Vine videos are six seconds) and share with their network.
From a marketing perspective, this offers tremendous opportunities for your business. In a matter of seconds (literally), you can record and distribute a bite-sized video to all of our customers, followers and more—all from your mobile phone. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Plan ahead – Have an idea of what you’re going to shoot and why it might be interesting.
- Consider using a tripod – If you’re doing a stationary shot, make sure it’s not shaky.
- Use hashtags – Remember that Instagram, Vine, Twitter and now Facebook all use hashtags. It’s a great way to get people to see your content.
