Clare Controls Selected as the Home Automation System Provider for the 2012 New American Home

Clare Controls, a provider of configurable and intuitive home automation systems, is proud to announce its flagship product, ClareHome, has been selected by Architectural Electronics, Inc. as the home automation system for the 2012 New American Home project.

ClareHome is the first home automation system managed from the cloud and run on a Mac. By utilizing ClareHome in the New American Home, Architectural Electronics can configure, deploy, service and monitor from the cloud, while the system runs locally in the home. End-users may instantly create and modify their own interfaces without the help of a professional programmer or technician—a feature that is absolutely unique to luxury home automation systems. By accessing the cloud-based Applet library, the user creates their interface the way they want.

Now in its 29th year, the New American Home is constructed annually by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to showcase the industry’s most innovative construction technologies and latest building products. The New American Home serves as the NAHB’s official “show home” and provides building, integration and design professionals an opportunity to see first-hand the latest trends, techniques and products that can be used in homes. The debut of the home is held in conjunction with the NAHB International Builders’ Show which will take place in Orlando, February 8-11, 2012.

This year’s New America Home will be documented by several media outlets, including HGTV Pro, which will produce and air an extensive video feature on the project later this year. The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) and Home Technology Alliance (HTA) will partner to document the project through an extensive series of videos as part of a detailed case study. The case study will be made available to architects, builders, interior designers and electronics systems contractors to help educate them on the industry’s latest trends, technologies and business practices.

“Architectural Electronics has a strong passion for making innovative technology a fundamental component,” said Peter Shipp, president of Architectural Electronics. “With the New American Home project, we’ve gone through great lengths to make sure we choose the right partners for this state-of-the-art home. The project is the perfect opportunity to implement new technologies in a real-world setting, and after carefully scrutinizing several of the industry’s top control systems, we selected Clare Controls because of the company’s ability maximize efficiency in operation and configuration – which is key to the future of home automation and control.”

“We’re proud to have Clare Controls recognized as one of the most innovative home automation solutions providers,” said Brett Price, founder and CEO of Clare Controls. “Our company was created with two key principals in mind: putting the user in control or the user experience and improving dealer efficiency. As the home automation systems provider for the New American Home project, we look forward to demonstrating how our systems and technologies exceed in making those concepts a reality.“

With ClareHome, end-users not only control their homes through advanced technologies, including Apple iPads, iPhones and favorite web browsers, but for the first time, are able to modify their own user experience within the system. No other home automation solution allows users to access new home controls from the cloud and make them functional within minutes—without a professional programmer or technician.

ClareHome delivers out-of-the-box application integration and control of third-party systems through its AppModules and associated device drivers. While the AppModules are robust enough to meet the demands of even the most discriminating user, ClareCloud provides feature-rich customization tools for dealers. These cloud-based configuration tools allow dealers to customize the behavior of AppModules and create custom scenes that reach across AppModules.

AppModules include:

  • Audio – Integrated with any in-home media, distributes throughout the home using event rules
  • Entertainment – Automatically build rules to run entertainment systems without programming
  • Security – Status summaries, remote capabilities and exception notifications
  • CCTV – An entire NVR application with embedded video analytics to intelligently detect motion
  • Lighting – Scheduling and lighting overview capabilities
  • Energy – Complete HVAC/energy management application

Leveraging cloud-based technologies, dealer efficiency is improved. System changes, if necessary, are simplified and completed in minutes.ClareHome’s cloud-based, secure dealer portal—ClareCloud—serves as the central intuitive dashboard where dealers can remotely configure, deploy, monitor and service all ClareHome automation systems. No other system allows you to manage home automation from the cloud.
